Motorola is going to launch folding phones of the Razr 50 series on June 25. But before that, the Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) certification website revealed that the company is also focusing on different product categories at the same time. The list refers to a tracking device called Moto Tag. The listing also reveals some technical details about Moto Tag. So if you are interested, let’s have a look at some details about this product.
Motorola is working on an iteration of the tracking device it launched back in 2017
Moto Tag will support Bluetooth LE and is equipped with a 3V battery (CR2032) with a capacity of 210 mAh to power the system. For comparison, the popular Apple AirTag is equipped with the same CR2032 battery and has a battery life of 12 to 18 months.
The tracking device from Motorola has a model number – XT2445-1. Although the listing doesn’t contain much information about the product, it hints that a launch is not far off.
In addition to the FCC and SGS certification platforms, Moto Tag also appeared on the UAE’s TDRA certification platform earlier this month, confirming its release in the UAE.
It’s worth noting that Motorola has previously entered this product category, releasing its first tracking device in 2017. Although the new tracking device features the same battery as Apple’s AirTag, we will need to see how energy efficient and reliable Motorola manages to make the new Moto Tag.
