The office will become a key platform for cooperation and exchange of best practices between Ukrainian and European innovators, startups and defense companies.

At the opening ceremony, Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Oleksandr Borniakov, together with Natalia Kushnerska, Head of the Brave1 Defense Tech Cluster, presented the results of the cluster’s work and discussed the priority areas of cooperation between the cluster and the Office.

Since the full-scale invasion, Ukraine has become one of the largest defense tech hubs in the world. To develop the defense tech market and create more war game changers, we launched the Brave1 cluster. This is a platform for effective cooperation of all defense stakeholders, which helps Ukrainian manufacturers to attract investments for the development of defense solutions and their fast track to the frontline.

The platform has already registered 2,600+ innovative developments, 200 of which are codified according to NATO standards. And the Brave1 grant program has invested more than $7.5 million in scaling up developments.

The opening of the Office of Defense Innovation is an important step in the development of the Ukrainian Defense Tech market – we will get more opportunities and investments for Ukrainian companies. Through joint solutions, we will not only bring victory in the technological war closer, but also strengthen the defense capabilities of the entire EU.
