Voting has ended in the first round of the presidential election in Slovakia on Saturday. Some 4.4 million eligible voters were called on to choose a successor to President Zuzana Caputova from the nine men standing as candidates. Advance polling said the clear favourites were Social Democrat parliamentary speaker Peter Pellegrini, part of the government camp, and former foreign minister and diplomat Ivan Korcok, backed by the liberal opposition.
