A 67-year-old German tourist has died on Crete after setting off on an hour-long hike and presumably straying from the path. The man had set off on Sunday morning from the village of Omalos on a plateau in the regional district of Chania, as the Greek news channel ERT reported on Monday, citing the authorities. His destination was the fishing village of Sougia, more than 30 kilometres away. His wife is said to have reported him missing on Sunday afternoon.
