A former St Bartholomew’s School student has been appointed an OBE in the King’s 2024 New Year Honours List. Lucy Ottley (née Bell) studied her A’Levels – human biology, sociology and theatre studies – at St Bart’s from 1994 to 1996. During her time at the school, she was part of the Navy contingent in the Combined Cadet Force which inspired her to pursue a career in the Armed Forces. Her 23-year career in the Royal Navy saw her rise to the rank of Commander, help improve the working conditions of her peers and celebrate the diversity of all those in the service.
