Bishop’s Stortford’s war memorial is in line for a spruce-up after a grant was secured for repairs. The stone obelisk in Castle Gardens, bearing 208 names of the fallen of The First World War and 106 from The Second World War, is showing wear and tear and is in need of a clean. Last year Mark Greatbatch, Navy veteran and founder of the Bishop’s Stortford Armed Forces Breakfast Club, raised the issue of the damage to the memorial.
