Forty-year-old Elena Safronova, who worked as a taxi driver, was stabbed to death on Oct. 24. Two minors from the Roma community were arrested on suspicion of the murder. That same evening, a mob gathered near a house belonging to the Roma diaspora and attacked it with stones and Molotov cocktails. The crowd was dispersed, but several groups of people spread throughout the city, setting fire to two other houses and several cars believed to belong to the Roma community.
