Thanks to the new Open Data Hackathon initiative, young professionals can develop their own projects based on open data. More than 230 specialists competed in the annual hackathon for the victory. Three teams won.
The Open Data Hackathon is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Digital Transformation and the Digital Transformation Support project with the support of USAID and UK Dev. The implementing partner of the project is SocialBoost.
10 best teams
“There are more than 100 open data solutions in Ukraine that increase the transparency of public administration, business efficiency, and the well-being of citizens. To develop this area, it is necessary to engage specialists with a creative approach to the use of technology. Thanks to the Open Data Hackathon, we were able to gather participants who demonstrated innovative thinking when working with open data,” says Yanina Lyubyva, open data expert at the Ministry of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.
The final round of the hackathon was made up of 10 teams with solutions that improve healthcare delivery, promote economic growth, address social challenges, and fight corruption. Together with 45 expert mentors, the participants were able to turn their ideas into full-fledged projects for Ukraine’s development.
“The Open Data Hackathon brought together data enthusiasts and innovators to create solutions that promote information transparency of government agencies, have an anti-corruption impact, and increase the effectiveness of management decisions. Their projects have the potential to strengthen the digital transformation processes in Ukraine,” says Nadiya Konashchuk, Head of the Open Data Component of the Digital Transformation Support Project.
The jury evaluated the participants’ solutions based on the innovation of the idea, the use of open data, the potential for competitiveness and impact, progress during the hackathon, the presence of a strong team, and a high-quality presentation.
