The Inland Revenue is demanding HK$400,000 in profits tax from the Hong Kong Journalists Association (HKJA), the press group said on Thursday, as part of a review of its 2017-2018 accounts. “After preliminary communication, the IRD requested that HKJA submit detailed accounting records for several years, as well as profits tax returns for the six years between 2017/18 and 2022/23,” the HKJA said in a statement, adding that it had received a bill of around HK$400,000 for 2017/2018.
