The former Russian intelligence officer and ultranationalist Igor Girkin, also known as Igor Strelkov, has been sentenced to four years in prison for inciting extremism, the Interfax news agency reported on Thursday. The Moscow court also banned Girkin from managing internet media for three years. The defence said that it would appeal the sentence.
