The Ukrainian representative office of one of the world’s most popular messengers has become a resident of Diia.City. Today, more than a billion people around the world use Viber, which is owned by the Japanese tech giant Rakuten.

“This is a great expansion of the space, which signals to businesses around the world that it is possible and necessary to develop in Ukraine even during the war,” says Mykhailo Fedorov, Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine.

It should be noted that Ukraine is an important market for the company. According to Rakuten, the app is used by 98% of Ukrainians with smartphones.

Earlier this year, the company opened an office in Ukraine. And its three subcompanies – Rakuten Viber, Rakuten Advertising, and Rakuten Rewards – already have development and marketing teams in Kyiv and Odesa.

“Rakuten Viber takes an active part in the development of the Ukrainian digital ecosystem and intends to remain an integral part of it in the future. Diia.City creates all the opportunities for this,” comments on joining Diia.City Ilya Boshnyakov, Regional Director of Rakuten Viber in Ukraine.

Since the beginning of the year, the team has launched a number of new features and products, including business calls in the messenger, chat folders, incoming call identification, AI-based chat summary, and others. The messenger has also recently received the international SOC II security certificate.

“I am glad that technology leaders from all over the world choose Diia.City. We managed to create a cool project that is already attracting top innovators to Ukraine,” adds Fedorov.
