Germany’s population has grown less strongly in recent years than previously assumed, according to results of the 2022 census which were presented in Berlin on Tuesday. There were around 82.7 million people living in Germany on May 15, 2022, about 1.4 million fewer inhabitants than previously estimated on the basis of the official population update, according to Ruth Brand, the president of Germany’s Federal Statistical Office.
