A mother-of-two has praised a Diss business for raising awareness of a rare condition, which affects one in 10,000 people in the UK. Becca Brunton’s four-year-old son, Zac, has phenylketonuria (PKU), which means his body cannot break down an amino acid called phenylalanine. Without treatment, the acid could build up in his blood and cause irreversible brain damage.
