Motorola has just released a new smart tracker that will compete with Apple’s AirTags for Android devices. It’s aptly named Moto Tag, and it comes with support for UWB technology and the Google network to help you easily locate your tagged items.
Moto Tag: What makes it special?
The company has announced Moto Tag with enhanced accuracy thanks to support for ultra-wideband (UWB) technology. So smartphones that are also equipped with UWB technology can take advantage of this advantage. An example is the brand’s own Edge 50 Ultra smartphone. It is worth noting that integration with the Find My Device app will not be available at launch and will appear in a future update. Similar to Apple AirTag, Moto Tag has a round body with a multifunctional button.
It is used to make calls to a paired smartphone and take remote photos. Motorola has emphasized privacy by creating Moto Tag, which uses end-to-end encryption in the Google Find My Device network. In other words, your location data should remain private. For added security, it offers users an unknown tracker alert as well as manual scanning. Moto Tag’s body is IP67-rated for water and dust resistance, making it durable enough for outdoor use.
Thanks to Google Fast Pair, the setup process is convenient, and the Moto Tag app offers features such as battery monitoring and notification volume. Motorola claims that their smart tracker has a battery life of one year. The CR2032 battery is also replaceable. The Moto Tag will be sold in select markets for $29 USD for one, and a pack of four devices will cost $99 USD. It is available in two color options, namely blue and green. The brand will release the smart tracker on August 2, 2024.
