Israeli UN Ambassador Danny Danon has raised the possibility of a major war with the Shiite militia group Hezbollah in neighbouring Lebanon. “I would like to see a ceasefire and the return home of Israelis to the homes in the north and southern Lebanese, to their homes in southern Lebanon,” Danon told an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council in New York. “That’s what we all want to achieve. It will happen either after a war or before a war. We hope it will be before.” Danon also confirmed that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is due to arrive in the US on Thursday.
