The German public prosecutor has lodged an appeal against a court judgement in the long-running assault case involving former national football player Jérôme Boateng, a court spokesman told dpa on Thursday. The appeal comes after a Munich court found the 2014 world champion guilty of assault on his ex-partner last week and handed him a suspended fine. Boateng would merely have to pay €200,000 ($218,000) in fines if he violates his conditions.
