The general secretary of Germany’s ruling Social Democrats (SPD), Kevin Kühnert, has rejected calls by the opposition to limit immigration from Syria and Afghanistan following the fatal knife attack in the western city of Solingen. Three people were killed and eight people were wounded in the stabbing at a city festival on Friday evening. Police have arrested the suspected perpetrator, a 26-year-old man from Syria.
