Mainz and Germany forward Jonathan Burkardt has suffered a thigh muscle injury and is out of action “for the time being,” the Bundesliga club said on Saturday. Burkardt sustained the injury midway through the first half of Friday’s 1-1 draw with Borussia Mönchengladbach and had to be substituted. He is now set to miss Tuesday’s German Cup match against Bayern Munich. Mainnz then visit Freiburg in the league on November 3. Also not fully fit ahead of the Bayern date is midfielder Nadiem Amiri who is nursing a capsular injury which limits his training.
