The International Paralympic Committee announced Monday that it has appointed Kyodo News as its recognized news agency. Kyodo “will have a duty to make comprehensive coverage” of the 2024 Paris Paralympics, opening Wednesday, “with a focus on Japan’s athletes,” the IPC said in its announcement. “At the same time, the freedom of press and editorial independence will be maintained.” Kyodo served as the host national news agency for the Tokyo Paralympics held in 2021.
