The Discover Downham Heritage Centre will be holding a double celebration next month. On Friday, July 5 the centre will be showcasing two subjects dear to the heart of the town between 5pm and 8pm. Downham has long been referred to affectionately as ‘the Gingerbread Town’ due to the distinctive yellowish brown carrstone which decorates many of its buildings.
