Uncertainty hangs over when a fenced-off pond at a beauty spot will reopen. The parcel of water at Betteshanger Park in Deal, which was popular with families and walkers, has been branded an eyesore, as tall grey railings surround it. Construction company Redrow, which owns the pond, says it is shut to the public in anticipation of “large scale earthworks”, and hasn’t confirmed when it will reopen.
