Motorola has introduced a new generation of folding phones in the Razr 50 series. It includes the Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra models. They replaced last year’s Razr 40 and 40 Ultra models, respectively. The latest models have many improvements over their predecessors. In particular, the standard model now comes with a larger additional screen.

Specifications and features of Motorola Razr 50

Motorola Razr 50 and Razr 50 Ultra are folding clamshell phones. Both models feature a 6.9-inch FlexView POLED display with FHD+ resolution and Dolby Vision support. The standard model has a 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 2,600 nits. Meanwhile, the ultra model has an LTPO refresh rate of 165 Hz and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits.

The additional screen on the back of the Razr 50 Ultra also features a POLED panel with a 165Hz LTPO refresh rate, 1080p resolution and HDR10+ support. The device has the largest 4-inch display among foldable phones. The standard Razr 50, on the other hand, goes from a smaller 1.5-inch screen to 3.6 inches with a 90Hz refresh rate. The secondary display on both devices is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus. It can be used for functions such as video viewing, navigation, and more.

In terms of optics, the Motorola Razr 50 duo has a 50-megapixel primary camera with OIS. The Ultra model has a 50-megapixel 2x telephoto lens, while the standard variant is equipped with a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor. Both phones have a 32-megapixel selfie camera.

The Motorola Razr 50 series features a fifth-generation star-shaped hinge that is said to be smaller and lighter. It also has an aircraft-grade 6000 series aluminum frame. Both phones are IPX8 waterproof. The fingerprint scanner is located on the side and is integrated into the power button.

Under the hood, the Razr 50 is powered by a Dimensity 7300X processor, while the Razr 50 Ultra is equipped with a Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 SoC. Both phones have up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The Razr 50 Ultra is equipped with a 4000 mAh battery with support for 44W and 15W wired and wireless charging. At the same time, the standard model is powered by a 4200 mAh battery with 33W and 15W wired and wireless charging.

Other features of the Razr 50 series include Android 14, 5G, dual-band WiFi, USB-C port, and more.

Motorola Razr 50 costs 3,699 Chinese yuan (~$510) and 3,999 Chinese yuan (~$550) for the 8GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB versions. It’s available in Steel Wool, Pumice Stone, and Arabesque colors with a leather-textured back. The Ultra model is priced at CNY 5,699 (~$785) and CNY 6,199 (~$850) for the 12GB + 256GB and 12GB + 512GB configurations, respectively. It is offered in Dill, Navy Blazer, and Peach Fuzz colors.
