The trustees of Southwell Leisure Centre have denied they are delaying plans for new swimming facilities for the town. In an open letter to residents, released last week, Newark and Sherwood District Council leader Paul Peacock and Andy Freeman, chairman of Active4Today – which runs the leisure centre on the council’s behalf – said Southwell Leisure Centre Trust had not yet given consent for the project to progress.
