Several reports claim that Qualcomm will unveil its next-generation Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip in October this year. There is a possibility that MediaTek could also announce its flagship Dimensity 9400 offering in the same month. A new Weibo post from a Digital Chat Station informant sheds light on the first phones with the aforementioned chipset to debut in October.
According to Digital Chat Station, several flagship smartphones equipped with next-generation chipsets and 1.5K displays are expected to launch in October. He revealed that these phones will not be too big in size, indicating that we may be talking about standard models only, not “Pro” variants of future flagship smartphone series from different brands.
He said that two of them will be equipped with the Dimensity 9400 chipset, while one phone will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 4. The emojis used in the post hint that the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 phone could be the Xiaomi 15. Meanwhile, other emojis indicate that the Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8, both of which feature the Dimensity 9400 processor, are also being prepared for release in October. The leak also suggests that the Vivo X200 and Oppo Find X8 will have a periscope telephoto camera on board, while the Xiaomi 15 will not.
The Xiaomi 15 may be accompanied by a larger Xiaomi 15 Pro equipped with the same SD8G4 chip. On the other hand, the X200 Pro with the D9400 SoC may debut alongside the X200.
However, it is not clear whether the Find X8 Ultra will also debut in October. There is a possibility that the Ultra variant, equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chipset and satellite support, could appear in early 2025 in China.
In addition, other devices based on Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 are reportedly in development, such as OnePlus 13 Pro, iQOO 13 series, Redmi K80 Pro, and Realme GT 6 Pro. These devices are expected to hit the market by the end of 2024.
