The UN’s World Heritage Committee said on Saturday that it has designated the Schwerin Residence Ensemble in the north-eastern German state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern as a World Heritage Site. The ensemble includes Schwerin Castle and parts of the historic city centre, which remarkably survived World War II without any bomb damage.
