An art museum in the US is selling a painting by Lucas Cranach the Elder, a German Renaissance painter, that its Jewish owner was forced to part with as a result of Nazi persecution in World War II. The proceeds will be divided by the museum and the heirs of the former owner, Henry Bromberg, the Allentown Art Museum in the US state of Pennsylvania said on Monday.
