In a bid to expand the capacity of the Tanzanian- Zambia Crude Oil Pipeline, simply known as the Tazama Pipeline, a contractor has been assigned the job of conducting a feasibility study. Tanzania plans to expand the Tazama Pipeline to transport 5 million tonnes of crude oil annually.The current pipeline, built in 1968, can only transport 800,000 tonnes of crude oil.The feasibility study of the 1710 km pipeline will determine the renovation cost.Both countries intend for the pipeline to be able to transport 5 million tonnes of crude annually.
