Police in the southern German city of Ulm have ended a hostage situation on the city’s central cathedral square with gunfire. The man had taken several people hostage in a shop on Ulm’s busy Münsterplatz shopping precinct on Friday evening, public prosecutor Michael Bischofberger confirmed at the scene on Friday evening.
