The Israeli military said on Monday evening it had killed a senior officer of the Shiite militant group Hezbollah in an airstrike on southern Lebanon. Hassan Hussein Salami was targeted because he had overseen rocket attacks on the northern Israeli town of Kiryat Shmona as well as a local Israeli military command, the Israeli army said.
