A fire broke out at Denmark’s Ministry of Taxation on Thursday, prompting the evacuation of the building located in central Copenhagen, police and the fire brigade said. Dense smoke could be seen coming from the roof as emergency responders descended on the site. Police said nearby buildings were also being evacuated. The cause and extent of the fire were not initially known. Danish Tax Minister Jeppe Bruus said on X that the ministry’s employees had gathered nearby. A major fire destroyed Copenhagen’s Old Stock Exchange building in April.
