A 64-year-old man was found dead in a house that caught fire Monday in Hopatcong, officials said. The home quickly became engulfed in smoke and flames when the fire broke out shortly before 12:30 a.m. at a single-family house on the 300 block of Lakeside Avenue, Hopatcong police said. Robert Powers was pronounced dead after firefighters extinguished the fire. Two police officers suffering from smoke inhalation were treated and released from an area hospital.
