Warm temperatures at the end of New Jersey’s mosquito season are suspected of being the reason why an Ocean County horse caught Eastern Equine Encephalitis to the point of euthanization, officials said Tuesday. The horse, a 28-year-old female, was euthanized after experiencing “clinical deterioration” from the disease, commonly referred to as “EEE,” the state Department of Agriculture said.
