The European Parliament on Tuesday approved a new law restricting the use of personal data for targeted political advertising in the European Union. The regulation – which still needs final approval from member states – would prohibit the use of sensitive personal data concerning matters such as ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, or even political opinions to target individuals with political ads.
