Several thousand Polish farmers took to the streets in Warsaw on Tuesday to protest against EU agricultural policy and the import of cheap agricultural products from Ukraine. They vented their discontent with horns, sirens and firecrackers. The predominantly male participants carried placards reading “We farmers and free Poles say stop to green madness” and “Our state – our food.” Unlike previous protests, no tractors or agricultural machinery were allowed to take part in the demonstration.
