A speeding motorist has been fined £1,666 and temporarily banned from driving. David Clive Oates, 54, of Caythorpe Road, Caythorpe, Nottinghamshire, was convicted by Cornwall Magistrates’ Court on May 20. Oates drove at a speed of over 70mph on the M5 junction 27 overbridge, at Tiverton, Devon, on November 25, 2023. He was sentenced, in his absence, at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court on August 20. The Audi driver was fined £1,666, and ordered to pay costs of £756. He was disqualified for holding or obtaining a driving licence for 14 days.
