World Cup winner Rachael Burford has announced her retirement from rugby, aged 37. Burford, from Medway, enjoyed a glittering career in the sport and walks away with a “deep sense of gratitude and fulfilment”. The Harlequins centre won 84 caps for England during a 13-year international career. She played at four World Cups, winning the tournament in 2014 as England beat Canada 21-9 in the final in France, and finishing runner-up in 2006, 2010 and 2017.
