Top political scientist John Curtice has said he “wouldn’t be surprised if there was a second Brexit referendum by 2040.” He added: “I think the 2016 referendum is going to be as unsuccessful as the 1975 one,” speaking in a meeting of the UK in a Changing Europe research organisation. The timescale of another referendum “depends very much on uncertain politics,” he said.
