A staff nurse at Lynn’s Queen Elizabeth Hospital’s day surgery unit will hang up her uniform after dedicating more than 56 years to nursing today. Betty Ward, 74, started her career when she was just 18 years old. She held her first nursing role in Newmarket General Hospital and came to the QEH as a bank nurse in 1998. The grandmother of three is now a key member of the Arthur Levin Day Surgery Unit where she has worked as a registered nurse looking after patients both before and after surgery for more than 20 years.
