The Islamist militia Al-Shabaab has reportedly killed at least 53 soldiers in two attacks in central Somalia. The militia detonated explosives-laden vehicles in front of a barracks on Tuesday, followed by fierce fighting. A Somali government spokesman, however, said that ten Islamists were killed in the attack. He put the number of soldiers killed at just five.
