Devastating forest and wildfires in Siberia have spread over an area of more than 1 million hectares in the Sakha region, authorities said. More than 130 individual fires are currently raging in the region, with about 2,000 people engaged in firefighting efforts on the ground and in the air, the Civil Defence Ministry in the capital Yakutsk reported. The ministry also released a video of a firefighting plane dropping tons of water over the burning forests.
