According to the German Association of Judges, there is an increasing number of unresolved cases at public prosecutors’ offices in Germany. Last year, 906,536 cases were open. The number of unprocessed files has thus risen by a quarter within two years (2021: 727,021; 2022: 840,727). The figures are based on a survey of the justice administrations of Germany’s federal states, which was conducted by the legal newsletter, Deutsche Richterzeitung, published by the German Association of Judges.
