The north-eastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv was attacked with aerial bombs by the Russian air force on Wednesday, killing at least one person, the governor of the Kharkiv region, Ihor Terekhov, reported on Telegram. A further 16 people were injured, Terekhov said. Several five-storey residential buildings were damaged, as was an institute for emergency surgery, he said. According to the local police, it was the first airstrike involving bombs dropped by enemy aircraft since the first year of the war in 2022.
