Police are investigating the death of an Essex County man that was found unresponsive and suffering from stab wounds Friday afternoon, authorities said. Michael Castro, 40, was found by Newark police responding to a call on the 100 block of Stone Street around 12:25 p.m. Friday, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement. In addition to the stab wounds, the man also showed signs of head trauma, officials said. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:53 p.m., according to the prosecutor’s office.
