Plans for a flood basin in Thatcham have been amended following objections from Sport England. The plans are for a flood attenuation basin on Thatcham Memorial Field. The flood basin would be a 0.85-hectare flood detention basin and a 120m-long swale. Earlier this year, applicant West Berkshire Council held a public consultation on it and is looking to move on to the next steps. But its plans were met with objections due to lack of information and loss of playing field area at Thatcham Cricket Club – which shares the site.
