Samsung’s upcoming flagship, the Galaxy S25 Ultra, has been a hot topic in rumors lately. After previous reports of a redesigned bezel with rounded corners for improved ergonomics, a new leak suggests that the phone could be the thinnest and lightest Ultra model yet.

The news comes from the usually reliable Ice Universe. The insider claims that the Galaxy S25 Ultra will be thinner and lighter than the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL and the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro Max.

We’ll find out the dimensions of the 16 Pro Max when it hits the market on September 9. For comparison, the Pixel 9 Pro XL is 8.5mm thick and weighs 221 grams.

Based on this, we can expect the upcoming Galaxy flagship to be around 8.4 mm thick and weigh less than 220 grams. This is not much thinner than the S24 Ultra, which is 8.6 mm thick, but it will be lighter, as the latter weighs 233 grams.

The insider also suggests that the S25 Ultra will be the lightest of all the upcoming flagships in the Ultra line. That is, the lightest among the Oppo Find X8 Ultra, Xiaomi 15 Ultra, and Vivo X200 Ultra, as we assume.

Thanks to the redesigned design and slimmer profile, the S25 Ultra should be a more comfortable option for users who find the current Ultra models a bit bulky.

Of course, there are likely to be trade-offs from these changes. For example, Samsung could install a smaller battery for a thinner profile. Or, putting the next-generation Snapdragon processor in a thinner body could raise thermal management concerns.

Although this information is based on leaks, it has a high level of accuracy, so it’s worth taking into account. But we will still have to wait for the official announcement in early 2025 to get full details on the phone’s design, specifications, and price.
