A young skier, part of the Italian army team, died following a serious training accident, the Ministry of Defence said on Tuesday. Matilde Lorenzi, 20, was training on the Gravard G1 slope in Val Senales, in the northern region of Alto Adige, when she fell and violently hit her face on the icy piste, the Italian Winter Sports Federation (FISI) said in a statement on Monday following the fall.
