Ethiopia’s Milkesa Mengesha shook off Kenyan rival Cybrian Kotut on the final kilometre to win the 50th edition of the Berlin Marathon in personal best time on Saturday. Mengesha clocked 2 hours 3 minutes 17 seconds to beat Kotut by five seconds over the classic 42.195km distance. Haymanot Alew of Ethiopia was another nine seconds back in third.
