A new leak from Weibo suggests that Huawei is preparing a new Watch 5 Series wristwatch that could be introduced later this year alongside the Mate 70 smartphone.

Tipster Fixed Focus has found out that the Watch 5 Series will have a different design compared to the previous model. The software is also expected to receive an update.

The publisher claims that the device will have a “new system”, probably referring to HarmonyOS NEXT. Currently, Huawei is developing this new version, and its launch is expected on June 21.

Details on the specific features and functions of the new OS remain unknown. In addition, the source did not share any specific information about Huawei Watch 5 Series.

As a reminder, Watch 4 Series attracted attention as the world’s first non-invasive smartwatch for monitoring high blood sugar. It features a 1.5-inch LTPO sapphire display enclosed in a titanium case with different watch faces for customization.

Despite its size, the Watch 4 Series was praised for its lightweight design. It offered over 100 workout modes and tracked health indicators such as heart rate, blood oxygen content (SpO2), stress, skin temperature, and arterial stiffness.

Battery life depended on the version. The standard model offered 3 days, while the Pro increased this figure to 4.5 days in normal use. In the “extra-long battery life” mode, the endurance could be increased to 21 days. Communication features include support for eSIM for calls and LTE 4G for data, as well as drop detection for safety.

Although the new leak gives an idea of the potential features of the Watch 5 Series, official details remain undisclosed. We will have to wait for further information from Huawei to confirm the launch date, specifications, and pricing.
