By Ben Aris in Berlin Pavel Durov, the CEO and founder of Telegram, was formally charged with crimes that include complicity in drug trafficking and distribution of child pornography, but released on August 28 after he posted €5mn bail and ordered to report to police twice a week and not to leave France. Durov is reportedly being charged under Article 323-3-2 of France’s Criminal Code on complicity in committing a crime, which only went into force in February and provides for the 10 year jail sentence and €500,000 fine cited in this press release.
