After becoming the first former NC State women’s tennis player to qualify for the Olympic games, Diana Shnaider earned a first-round win before being bounced in her second march. Shnaider, who was competing as an individual neutral athlete in the games, made quick work of Italy’s Elisabetta Cocciaretto in the first round Sunday, 6-2, 7-5. That set up a date with China’s Wang Wiyu in the second round Monday, but it did not go as well for Shnaider.
